Official 54th Annual Grammy Awards Thread LIVE FROM THE STAPLES CENTER IN LOS ANGELES, CA - 8E/5P on CBS Unfortunately, "The Biggest Night in Music" is being overshadowed by the tragic and untimely death of Whitney Houston. However, the show will go on with a tribute to the legend already being planned at this late hour. As fans of all types of music, we hope that you will join us while you watch the telecast in discussing the winners, the losers, the performances, the fashion, or anything else that you find interesting. I hope that everybody has entered into our latest contest which involves trying to predict the winners of this year's Grammy Awards. If you haven't entered yet, CLICK HERE to go to the contest thread and get your predictions in before the telecast begins. Please be sure to fill out BOTH Part 1 and Part 2. Even if you aren't interested in competing for a prize, we hope that you will enter anyway and play along. My goal for this contest is to update the standings three times on this thread throughout the evening. Since we are including 18 categories in our contest, I'll try to update after 6 of the awards have been given out, after 12, and then a final tally at the end. If all doesn't go as planned, please forgive me. I'll do my best to get the standings posted ASAP after the telecast is over. Details about this year's show have been slowly revealed over the past weeks and I definitely think that there is something for everybody. There will undoubtedly be touching tributes to Amy Winehouse, Etta James, and now Whitney Houston. Also, besides the normal performances we all expect from the nominees, there will be some interesting collaborations and a few music legends making appearances. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be opening the show with their new song "We Take Care Of Our Own" and will be performing together for the first time since the death of Clarence Clemons last year. The Beach Boys will be celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and will be performing together for the first time in years at the Grammys. Paul McCartney will be closing out the show with two songs. One of which is to be from his album Band on the Run. FULL LIST OF PERFORMERS INCLUDE: Adele; Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson; The Beach Boys; Foster the People and Maroon 5; Tony Bennett and Carrie Underwood; Chris Brown; Deadmau5; Foo Fighters; David Guetta and Lil Wayne; Glen Campbell, The Band Perry and Blake Shelton; The Civil Wars; Coldplay and Rihanna; Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt (Tribute to Etta James); Diana Krall; Bruno Mars; Paul McCartney; Nicki Minaj; Maceo Parker; Katy Perry; Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band; Taylor Swift; Joe Walsh FULL LIST OF PRESENTERS INCLUDE: Marc Anthony; Dierks Bentley; Jack Black; Reba McEntire; Drake; Fergie; Lady Antebellum; Miranda Lambert; Gwyneth Paltrow; Diana Ross; Ryan Seacrest; Ringo Starr; Amir “?uestlove” Thompson Perhaps most interesting to a group of Greyson Chance fans is that he has been tapped to be one of 25 official "couch commentators" on the telecast. So be sure to follow @greysonchance on Twitter and let us know if you agree or disagree with his impressions of the proceedings of the night. More information here --> blog.twitter.com/2012/02/watch-grammys-unfold-on-twitter.htmlFor our international fans, we will do our best to post a link to a live stream for those that live in countries where the show isn't televised. Right now, this looks like a promising, but there is no way to know until tomorrow night --> tvsatelliteplus.com/I think that is the end of my spiel. I hope that everybody can check in as the evening progresses and join in the discussions!

Sorry, for making the first post so long, but I tend to do that... Anyway, who are you guys excited to see?! I know everybody is going to be shocked by this , but I am really excited to see Bruce Springsteen. Unless things have changed, he is supposed to open the show with his new single. The song is "eh" at best, but it will be good to see the band back performing together again. When your favorite artist is in his 60s, you learn to appreciate every opportunity you have to see him out there still making music. Here is the song for those interested and Bruce looking like a dork in a music video like he always does: I am also excited to see The Beach Boys who were the first concert I ever went to and Sir Paul, of course. I am THRILLED that Adele is healthy enough to perform on what will undoubtedly be "her" night as far as awards go. Interested in some of these collaborations, especially Maroon 5 (who I kind of hate) with Foster the People. I really wish that they would have been able to come to an agreement with Bon Iver to get them to perform, but no such luck it seems.

there were 6 categories?? No, there were 18 total. I had just gotten around to recording the data on 6 of them so far. Some of the awards were handed out prior to the telecast, but a lot of them are still to be given out later on in the show.

Ok, I've finally caught up with my Excel spreadsheet.
So anybody really stood out so far for you guys?
I thought Bruce was pretty good. He always sucks on TV, so I didn't have high expectations.
Foo Fighters are always great and energetic. I think I could get to like them a lot more if I listened to their albums more often.

Scoring Update...
Now that 12 of the 18 categories that we included in the contest have been handed out, here are the Top 10 people so far. Plenty of awards still left, though. I won't post the winners for those that are on the West Coast and aren't watching yet.

Rihanna did a much better job live then I thought she was going to, also I liked Katy Perry's performance although I am not sure what song she was singing, was that a new song?

More thoughts since I am pretty much having a conversation with myself...
Loved seeing The Beach Boys together. They were the first concert I ever went to.
Adele nailed it.
I quite like Sir Paul singing his new song like a standard rather than like a rock/pop song.
Glen Campbell tribute was great. His story is sad yet inspiring. Alzheimer's is a cruel disease, but so glad he is able to get up there and still do his thing. He sounded great.

Wow, six[/i] Grammys for Adele, I knew that was coming though, Adele 21 and Rolling In The Deep has been in the top iTunes charts for I don't even know how long. Great to hear that Adele's surgery went so well, from the sounds of it it made her voice even better! And performed by a Boston doctor too I'm surprised Gaga didn't perform this year, although her last album was a lot less popular then the first so I guess so. And Nicki Minaj...I wish she just performed one her songs Edit: Just looked up what Katy Perry was singing and it's Part of Me off her upcoming new album, I really like it!
