I know this is lame and I'm sure everybody has done it before, but it might be interesting to see what artists other people on here have on their computer/iPod. So... hit shuffle and list the first 20 (or 10, or however many you want to do) songs that pop up. No cheating!!! 1. The Fame - Lady Gaga 2. Are You Ready for the Country? - Neil Young 3. Treefingers - Radiohead 4. Penny Lane - The Beatles 5. Ibiza Bar - Pink Floyd 6. Seven - DMB 7. Only Wanna Be With You - Hootie & the Blowfish 8. More Than Words - R.E.M. 9. Gett Off - Prince 10. Harvest Moon - Neil Young 11. Withing You Were Somehow Here Again - Cast of Phantom of the Opera 12. That's the Way - Led Zeppelin 13. Can't Take My Eyes Off You - Lady Antebellum 14. As I Rise - The Decemberists 15. Easy Lover - Phil Collins 16. Dance Little Liar - Arctic Monkeys 17. God Only Knows - The Beach Boys 18. Black Dog - Led Zeppelin 19. Homecoming - Kanye West 20. New York State of Mind - Billy Joel Interesting list to say the least. Nothing too embarrassing came up, but then again nothing from some of my favorite artists. "God Only Knows" is actually one of my all-time favorite songs (actually I pretty much love all of Pet Sounds) and I do love "New York State of Mind" as well (always a sucker for a Piano Man (pun intended ).

Hmm, my tastes are going to sound extremely odd!
1. Mr Bojangles - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band 2. Stop - Pink Floyd (The Wall, disc 2) 3. Not One of Us - Peter Gabriel 4. Leaders in Seventh Heaven - Red Box 5. Riding the Scree - Genesis (The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway) 6. Logos, pt 2. - Tangerine Dream 7. Something Happened on the Way to Heaven - Phil Collins 8. Ever Open Door - Supertramp 9. Keep the Customer Satisfied - Simon and Garfunkel 10. An Cuibhle Mor - Runrig 11. Bat out of Hell - Meat Loaf 12. The Sun Always Shines on TV - a-ha 13. Your Song - Elton John 14. Ommadawn - Mike Oldfield 15. Alternate Title - The Monkees 16. Song For Jeffrey - Jethro Tull 17. Can't You Hear Me Knocking - Rolling Stones 18. Alien Salad Abduction - Chris Conway 19. Land of the Living - Don Henley 20. Yma o Hyd - Dafydd Iwan
A bit surprising that Gaelic and Welsh songs appeared in the first 20 - there's not really that many of them mixed up in the 4000+ songs on my iPod, but there is a lot of 70s and 80s stuff on there!

Hmm, my tastes are going to sound extremely odd! A bit surprising that Gaelic and Welsh songs appeared in the first 20 - there's not really that many of them mixed up in the 4000+ songs on my iPod, but there is a lot of 70s and 80s stuff on there! Interesting. A lot of the stuff that came up on yours are from the same period of music that I tend to like, but happen to be artists/groups that I don't know much about. Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Supertramp, Simon and Garfunkel (actually I sort of know their stuff but don't own any of it), Meatloaf, Jethro Tull, etc. I actually had a Pink Floyd song pop up as well, but that is a band I don't know much about either. I tend to lean more 60s/70s rather than 80s, but that isn't always true. Yes, to me Springsteen (my ultimate favorite in case you were unaware ) is a 70s artist to me. I don't think anybody who lived through the 80s agrees w/ that, but when I think of him in his prime I think the skinny guy in the sports coat and jeans from the mid to late 70s, not the bulked up guy w/ the cheesy headband. I should listen to Bat Out of Hell. People say I'd love that since I love Born to Run and it was kind of inspired by that album and features a few members of the E Street Band on it. "Your Song" - first song I learned all the words to and to this day I can still sing you the whole song w/o the music playing along to help me.

I tend to lean more 60s/70s rather than 80s, but that isn't always true. I don't have too much 60s stuff on my iPod, though I was quite a fan of it at the time - I was born in '58 but my brother is almost 10 years older than me, so he left school when he was 15 and I was 5, and one of the first things he did when he had money was buy a record player and start collecting singles! I can remember him buying his first single - Gerry and the Pacemakers' Ferry Cross the Mersey, and it cost 6/8 in old British money (that's six shillings and eightpence, or 33p in modern money - around 50 cents at todays' exchange rate, though nearly $1 at the time). We were quite keen on the Merseybeat - the Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Billy J Kramer & the Dakotas, and lots more, especially as we were only around 25 miles from Liverpool, so it was practically a local phenomenon. My brother also used to buy the New Musical Express every week, so that was one of my main influences when I was learning to read I inherited his record player when he got married in '71 (but not, unfortunately, his records) - I had to wait until I had a little money after leaving school before I bought any vinyl - the only vinyl discs I bought were Mike Oldfield's Ommadawn and Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds, but since I went to college I couldn't really afford to buy music on a large scale until after I graduated in '79 - my first weeks' pay went on a tape deck, and cassette tapes were my preferred format until I bought a CD player in '85 (I was a fairly early adopter - I think CDs first came out over here in '82, and I remember it cost me around £300 (and CDs were around £20 each); I was devastated when it was stolen when my house was burgled in '92, but fortunately it didn't cost so much to replace!). Somewhere I've still got my old tape collection which hasn't been played in the last 25 years or so - I haven't got anything to play them on! Anyway, looking back at my playlist, some of the artists you might not have heard of - I like what can basically be described as "Celtic Rock" and Runrig were basically the prime exponents of that during the 80s and 90s - I've got 11 of their albums, they were huge in Scotland, and also very popular in Germany and Denmark, and sing in both English and Scots Gaelic - two of the band went into politics, lead singer Donnie Munro stood for Labour in the 1999 Scottish Parliament election for the Western Isles and nearly won (in a traditionally Liberal seat), while Peter Wishart has been a Scottish National Party MP in London for the last 10 years. Dafydd Iwan has been a fixture on the Welsh cultural and political scene for around 50 years - I remember going to one of his concerts in 1969 and not being terribly impressed at the time, but Yma o Hyd has acquired a status as virtually a second national anthem. Red Box were fairly much one-hit-wonders in the early 80s, while a-Ha of course are the most successful Norwegian group in the British charts! (not that that says a lot ;D ).

Well...that's pretty much a typical teenager's ipod right there for you. =).....Bruno Mars, Usher, Katy Perry and T Swizzie. I seriously don't think my ipod knows the meaning of 'shuffle' though. It always places the same artists together.
Don't ask about the Justin Bieber songs...kind of a long story.
I do have quite a bit of country on there...more than just Rascal Flatts. I'm a country girl at heart!
And Demi Lovato is one of my favoirte female artists...don't judge! Can't wait for her next album.
And of course, Greyson. August 2nd needs to get here sooner..or my ipod is going to have a mental relaspe from playing the same song by him over and over again.

I'm bored so I was reading though some of y'all's lists. I've learned a lot about what the current teens are into by being a fan of Greyson. I can't say that I've really checked out the music of most of the people (like Demi, Ariana, etc), but maybe I will someday soon. As you can tell, I like a variety of music. The old stuff like No Doubt and Matchbox Twenty...I got from my mom. And the hard rock like Disturbed and Five Finger Death Punch (love FFDP) I got from my mom and Grandpa. My list was a jumbled mess...but it had all of my favs! <3 Wow, "old stuff like No Doubt and Matchbox 20" makes me feel old. That was the kind of stuff that I listened to when I was a teenager 4. Slight Figure of Speech ~ The Avett Brothers What is this off of? I jumped on The Avett Brothers bandwagon with "I and Love and You," but I don't have much of their discography. Saw them kind of recently. A show I highly recommend, though they are known for their live shows Also, bringing up and old discussion... what is the best White Stripes/Jack White album (or 2)? 1. Madman across the water – Elton John 2. Listen to your heart – Roxette 3. I love ya too much – Brian Adams 4. Don’t stop moving – The beautiful south 5. Crocodile rock – Elton John 6. Africa – Toto 7. Stroms in Africa – Enya 8. Communique – Dire straits 9. Nothing Else Matters – Metallica 10. Local Hero – Mark Knopfler 11. Who wants to live forever – Queen 12. Discovery – Chris de Burgh 13. Logical song – Supertramp 14. Midnight Flyer – Eagles 15. How you gonna see me now – Alice Cooper 16. The river – Bruce Springsteen 17. Geef mij je angst – Guus Meeuwis (Dutch) 18. Marije maria – Reboelje (Frisian) 19. The Last resort – Eagles 20. The Hurricane – Bob Dylan This gives a pretty good picture of my taste in music actually. I might actually like your list better than the list my iPod gave me when I did this forever ago. You have two of my all-time favorite songs listed. I have this live version of "Madman" that I've been listening to non-stop for weeks now. I just turned down the chance to go see Elton again in March, but I might have to rethink that decision. I can't talk enough about how much I love Bruce, but "The River" is one of my favorites from him. You going to Pinkpop? He is one of the headliners this year. People tell keep telling me how great Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler is. There an album or two you recommend?
