'I don't get it.' He said, clearly confused. 'What does the note mean?' he asked, his face immediately turning solemn. Sunlight streamed in from a gap in the blinds.
I shielded my eyes from the sunlight as i walked over and shut the blinds. We had gone over to my house, to discuss it.
We sat in my room, Greyson sitting crossed legged on the floor, me lying on my bed, my hand behind my head.my right arm rested on my duvet lamely. I stared at my ceiling which was painfully bare.
My mom and sister were out so the air in the house was still and silent. Beads of sweat trickled down my face. I stood up and flicked on the fan switch and cool air showered me.
'That's better.' I muttered to myself as i jumped back onto my bed.
I heard Greyson stand up and i turned my head to see what he was doing. he was standing by my table, examining my camera. I was deep in thought, thinking about my dad's riddle.
My good hand plays with a bit of thread that was unraveling from my duvet. It distracts me.
'D open the piano bench. So i open the piano bench with my key he had given me.' I muttered to myself. As if on cue, my hand reach up to feel my key that hung around my neck. I felt nothing there. I freeze.
A wave of nausea came upon me. I searched franticly, hoping to feel the familiar smooth key within my grasp. I looked down at my neck, desperately hoping to find it.
It was gone. I quickly tried to think back tot he last time i saw it.
my bedside table. I saw just before i went to sleep. I get up and quickly ran to where Greyson was standing.
He looks at me with a confused expression as i searched the table.
'My key Greyson! The one that hangs on my neck! It's gone!' I yell at him as I search the table. I ran across my room chucking things around, trying to find my key, with Greyson helping me.
Finally, I collapse to the floor on my knees and i look to the sky, which i can't see because I'm in my room but i yell at it anyway.
'Thank you UNIVERSE! I FIGURE IT OUT AND THEN YOU TAKE AN IMPORTANT PIECE OUT OF MY JIGSAW PUZZLE! WHY?! TELL ME WHY? ARGH!'' I yell at my ceiling, with crazy hand gestures.
I would have raised both hands but one of my arms hung lamely at my side so i only raised my left hand which was curled in a fist to the heavens, angrily.
I stayed there for a while, shaking my hand angrily at the ceiling.I turned my head a little to see Greyson just standing there, looking at me with a smile on his face.
After a while,Greyson walked over to me with one of his eyebrows raised. he seemed to have sucked up all my anger because the next moment i stood up.
'Sorry, I'm just stressed and crazy at the same time.' I apologized. He just stood there, looking at me calmly.
'YOU! WHY DON'T YOU HELP ME FIND IT? DID U TAKE IT?!'I yelled at Greyson. he just stood there, not looking threated. I walked toward him about to give him another mouthful when i realized what i was doing. I yelled at him. For no reason, it was not his fault.
'it's just that- my key- to solve the riddle-i need it-gift-final' I stammered. My gaze traveled to the floor. i went red in embarrassment.I just could not seem to get my words right. He just shook his head mutely and wrapped his arms around my shivering body.
It was kind of awkward, since i was turning the other way. I turned the right way, and used my left hand to hug him. I was almost same height as him, so i put my face on his shoulder, to avoid his expressive deep brown eyes. I could not look at him.
It felt nice and i stopped shivering. I closed my eyes and tried to forget my worries. 'Thank you.' I whispered into his shoulder.
'I just freaked out, I'm sorry-I' I apologized again. 'I-don't-what happened-I' I stammered as i nearly burst into tears.
What was wrong with me? 'It's OK' he soothed me. I pulled away, and smiled at him. 'Thank you. For being here. I mean, who knows what i could have done if you weren't here? I would have maybe killed something-' I was cut off with a loud chuckle.
'I can't see you as a murderer Shay, and don't apologize, you did nothing wrong.' He said to me, taking my good hand into his for comfort.
He let them go almost instantly when he realized what he did, blushing like crazy as he looked away.
I found myself wishing that he had never let go. Before i lost my courage, I took his hands into mine, well my good hand. He smiled at me and held mine tighter and i wanted to stay like that forever.
But good things have to end, and sometimes they end with something even better.
