Anybody excited about Madonna's appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show?
I am not a big Madonna fan, but will be interested to see what she does with her 12-13 minutes. Of course, she could just sit there and it would be better than the Black Eyed Peas last year which was terrible (and I kind of like them in a guilty pleasure kind of way).
She released her new single today feat. Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. Whatcha think?

I love Madonna and her performance was pretty good. The only part i didn't like was when all the cheerleaders came out. Like A Prayer was pretty amazing thought

I usually don't watch any of the SuperBowl at all, but I did catch the half time show this year and thought she did an excellent job

Madonna's style is not that type of music I tend to like. Too much theatrics, not enough spontaneity and rawness. The show was pretty much what I expect when I think of Madonna and I think that she did pretty well.

Madonna's style is not that type of music I tend to like. Too much theatrics, not enough spontaneity and rawness. The show was pretty much what I expect when I think of Madonna and I think that she did pretty well. Call me weird then. I have no interest in sports anymore. I believe this comes from the years I spent providing the EMS for every entertainment venue in Atlanta for 20 years (The Omni Coliseum, Atlanta Braves Stadium, Lakewood Amphitheater, Fox Theater, Chastain Park, Georgia Tech Coliseum, among others). I was a Paramedic Supervisor so I HAD to be at almost EVERY Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Hockey game. Add all this up and I sometimes worked up to 80 Hours a week, dealing with stupid people and drunks all day. So now, I'll only watch if the Braves are in the world series. There was an upside though. I also HAD to be at almost EVERY Concert in town including covering backstage. I used to collect Backstage Passes as a hobby. I could tell you some stories but they would probably bore most people here. But hiding onstage under the Drum Riser to give oxygen to the lead singer between songs, and giving B-12 injections to Tina Turner's dancers were some of the fun moments. Another perk was having close up "house" seats at "sold out" shows. But the most enjoyable perk was access to every kind of autographed merchandise you can imagine. We would give things to injured kids and such. It was always great to be able to make them happy (yet another reason why I like to give things away here on the board). There is nothing quite as emotionally gratifying as to see the sparkle in a happy child's eyes, or to watch them jump up and down excitedly when you give them something autographed by their hero. Memories are priceless.

Well, I'm not really into football either, but it is more the cultural experience. Pretty much the way I view the Oscars/Grammys/Emmys to a lesser extent. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it, but since I'm normally not doing anything else I do. I don't think it is that weird to not watch, but kind of.
I mean, when all your friends on FB/Twitter/gchat are talking about it, you just kind of get sucked in. Plus, it is fun to pick a team and then talk shit to your friends that are rooting for the other team (especially if they REALLY care), and to talk about the commercials and especially (for me) the musical performances. I didn't go anywhere this year, but all my friends living all over the U.S. and I were talking about it online. The game was close which also made it more interesting.
Another note about Madonna... she didn't have a high standard to live up to following the Black Eyed Peas performance the year before which couldn't have been more horrendous. It takes a rare stroke of genius to play to 100 million people and actually lose fans, but I am pretty sure that is what happened to them.

Hah, well my family really could care less about sports. Unless the Chicago Cubs are playing (Well, my dad at least) anyway. The Super Bowl doesn't effect my house what so ever As for last years Half Time Show, well... I give them credit for singing completely live, I guess

I remain blissfully unaware. The only Black Eyed Peas performance I was aware of is one I did enjoy. I posted it before, but here it is again. Note: You have to watch the crowd, all the way through. Oprah's response: "That is so cool". Its HD so it loads a little slow. Let it load before watching. This was the kickoff for Oprah's 24th season. Oprah had no idea that this was going to happen. You can watch her facial expressions change from shock to awe. Everything looks normal as the group takes the stage, up to 0:27. Then, at 0:30, notice that the entire crowd is standing still, except for 1 girl, jumping up and down on the front row. Oprah is taping on her cell phone and you can tell she looks a little confused. It only gets better from there. Wish we could pull this off at a Greyson Show sometime.
