I was commenting in another post that I believe that Greyson will be the next Paul McCartney. I based this opinion on the fact that Greyson began teaching himself piano at around age 7 by taping the chords onto the piano keys. By age 11, we saw him writing his own songs, and by age 12, creating fantastic arrangements of popular songs like Papparazzi. This young man has an INCREDIBLE amount of talent. Further evidence for my comparison of Greyson to Paul McCartney and The Beatles can be seen in these two clips. Greyson, IN 5th GRADE (age 10)for goodness sake, singing and playing "I Want To Hold Your Hand", by The Beatles. This is the extended version for those naysayers who don't think that this is Greyson. Not only can you tell by his voice. but at 0:05 - 0:08, you can see him moving to the front of the classroom for his performance, and also leaving again at the end. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w_4cBHPDBsNow, compare Greyson to The Beatles and Paul McCartney (playing left handed Bass.) Note the suits, the black and white word images, the hair, and the Black and White video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iim6s8Ea_bE&feature=autoplay&list=PL7776E789FF2F856B&lf=results_main&playnext=2I believe all this had an influence on Greyson. And I believe that 50 years from now that people will still be playing Greyson's music the way that they are playing The Beatles today. History will prove that Greyson Chance is the next Paul McCartney.

I could NOT agree with you more...my thoughts exactly now (Even though when I discovered him I said he could be the next Billy Joel or Elton John! I wasn't sure he could fill Paul's shoes but I am starting to believe it)

Thanks for posting that. I had seen that posted a number of places, but couldn't listen to it b/c I didn't have a computer. I must admit that my McCartney knowledge pretty much only encompasses the Beatles catalog and Wings Greatest Hits. Are either or you big enough fans... is his other stuff worthwhile? I do hope Greyson makes an effort to see him when he tours again b/c he certainly still has it. From an objective standpoint, his show isn't the best that I've seen, but the band he plays with is kick ass and you can't beat the aura of seeing McCartney on stage. He is arguably the most "important" living figure in popular music (I say you could argue Dylan holds that title, but I know GU4G disagrees ) coupled with still being massively popular... hard to beat that combination. The song catalog is ok as well If you are talking about musically, I can't really argue with you. Few (maybe Brian Wilson, Elton John and a few others) can write a pop medley like Paul McCartney can and I do see that kind of musical intuition in Greyson. That is why I hope he continues to work hard on his abilities as a musician b/c that can only help him in his future compositions. On the other hand, though, I don't consider McCartney a great lyricist and when it comes down to it, that is what I love about music. I don't mean any disrespect to McCartney who I love, but when you think of the greatness of him, I don't think that his lyrics are what really sets him apart. In that respect I hope Greyson continues listening to people like Dylan, Costello, etc. and all those who are revered for their way with words. One way I do disagree with you though is that no matter what Greyson does, he will never be able to be the pop culture figure that Paul is for so many reasons. Who is the most popular artist/band today that is still in their peak? Lady Gaga? Adele? Coldplay? Taylor Swift? I don't really know what the answer is to that question, but while all these acts are massively popular there is still no question that the "old guard" can still massively outsell them especially when it comes to concert tickets. I am a huge Bruce fan so you guys have to read about him a lot, but I bet not a one of you had given the man much of a thought in years yet he just announced concert dates in Europe and is easily selling out soccer stadiums w/ no new album released, no word on the make up of the band, tickets priced at $100 each etc. Today's acts can't do that even with #1 albums. Music is so fragmented these days that some weeks you only have to sell 100,000 copies of an album for it to reach number 1. I really think that Michael Jackson will be that last artist that truly crossed race/age/etc. demographics and was massively popular worldwide. I I am confident that Greyson will have an awesome career if he chooses to stick with it. I just don't think that the ways of the world these days would ever allow him to reach the "heights" that McCartney reached.
