Guess who made the list? omg.yahoo.com/news/five-teens-watch-2012-190700228.html
In the last few years a new crop of young entertainers has stepped into the spotlight. From "True Grit's" Hailee Steinfeld to "Modern Family's" Rico Rodriguez, teen talent comes in all different shapes and sizes. Here are five rising stars that are sure to make big waves over the holidays and into 2012.
Asa Butterfield - 14 years old
Asa Butterfield was born April 1, 1997 in Islington, London, England, but his career so far has been anything but a prank. He first starred in the 2008 film "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas," which he followed up with the TV Series "Merlin." He took to the big screen again as a younger version of the lead character, Ben Talbot, in "The Wolfman" in 2010, before going on to a starring role in "Nanny McPhee Returns."
But it's in Martin Scorsese's first family film "Hugo" that the 14-year-old really becomes a leading man. Next up for Butterfield is a rumored part in "Ender's Game," the big screen adaptation of the sci-fi novel of the same name. The movie is due out in 2013.
Greyson Chance - 14 years old
It was only April of 2010 when Greyson Chance's brother recorded him performing Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" at his sixth-grade music festival. Since then his video went viral on YouTube (garnering over 44 million views), he grabbed the attention of Ellen DeGeneres and she gave him a record deal - the first for her label eleveneleven. He's also toured with "iCarly's" Miranda Cosgrove and released his first album, "Hold on 'til the Night."
Now he's wrapping up work on a video for the album's title track, having just returned from thrilling his loyal fans, known as Enchancers, during live dates in Asia. And somehow he managed to squeeze in some acting, playing young Jimmy Chance on Fox's "Raising Hope." He'll return for his second episode on December 6th.
Thomas Horn - 13 years old
Moviegoers have never seen Thomas Horn before, unless they were watching Teen Jeopardy in 2010. The then 12-year-old won $31,000 and caught the eye of Hollywood producer Scott Rudin. Not long after the unknown was offered a starring role alongside Oscar-winning actors Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock in the film "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close." The newcomer plays 9-year-old Oskar in the flick based on a book by Jonathan Safran Foer, which opens on Christmas day.
Colin Ford - 13 years old
Colin Ford first drew attention in the fantasy TV series "Supernatural." But this Christmas he'll be hitting the big screen alongside Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson and fellow teen star Elle Fanning in "I Bought a Zoo." But don't expect Ford to rest on his laurels. He's already got two more movies in post-production. First up is "Eye of the Hurricane," in which he appears with "Two and a Half Men's" Melanie Lynskey. And then comes "Disconnect," featuring an all-star cast that includes Paula Patton, Jason Bateman and Alexander Skarsgard.
Cameron Boyce - 13 years old
Not all young actors to watch are tackling dramatic roles or appearing in blockbuster films. One of the most entertaining new stars out there is Cameron Boyce, a co-star on the Disney Channel sitcom "Jessie." While all of the show's young actors do an admirable job, Boyce stands out every time he hits the screen. And besides his acting chops, he's a highly skilled dancer, too. No wonder the legion of Boycees are growing. As Cameron himself tweeted a couple of weeks ago, "Wow... at 4:00 o'clock I had like 8500 followers... and now I'm close to 10k!! Have I told u guys ur the best fans EVER?" Now he's hit over 11,000 devotees.
Catch Cameron Boyce on "Jessie" on Friday nights at 9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. Central on the Disney Channel. Watch Greyson Chance's return to "Raising Hope" on Tuesday, December 6 at 9:30 p.m. EST/8:30 p.m. Central on Fox.
