Greyson tweeted about this earlier today and here is a blurb in the NY Post. Sounds like they are honoring Mayor Bloomberg for the passage of the gay marriage law in NY. www.nypost.com/p/news/local/gay_rights_group_nups_salute_to_65mKIFtlXOEogbPLHAxk9K?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME= Gay-rights group’s nups salute to MikeJust call him the Rainbow Mayor. A national gay-rights group will honor Mayor Bloomberg tomorrow night with its annual civil-rights award for helping to get New York’s gay-marriage law enacted. Bloomberg is to accept the award at a Human Rights Campaign fund-raising dinner at the Washington Convention Center. President Obama is to deliver the keynote address. “We’re thrilled to honor Mayor Bloomberg for the major role he played in securing marriage equality in New York state. From personally lobbying Republican lawmakers in Albany to appearing in HRC’s ‘New Yorkers for Marriage Equality’ video series, the mayor led by example and helped turn the tide toward fairness,” said HRC spokesman Paul Guequierre. Scheduled performers include Cyndi Lauper, Greyson Chance and Mika. Read more: www.nypost.com/p/news/local/gay_rights_group_nups_salute_to_65mKIFtlXOEogbPLHAxk9K#ixzz1ZTkkpyvr

That's really great, especially since Greyson will be performing Purple Sky! What a great way to do the first live performance of the song.
Can't wait to hear it live!

That's awsome that he's going to sing that.
I also think that's cool that Mika is also going to be there. I saw him in concert in 2009. One of the best concert ever. He can really put on a show. He has an intresting backround story too. He also plays the piano. His biggest hit is "Grace Kelly". He'a amzing just like Greyson. I think he sohuld do a tour with Greyson but some of his music is a little innapropriate for teenagers.

Yeah, I saw the photo and that you are right. I had just missed the hash tag on the tweets. That is really cool. I am not counting on it, but I really hope a video surfaces of the performance. Hopefully the people there have their priorities straight. Who cares about celebrating the accomplishment of a long awaited (and needed) change in law? What we want is a video of Greyson's first performance of "Purple Sky." I got on the HRC website and it says that Obama's remarks are going to be streamed live, but from what it says it seems like that is the only part that will be streamed. Too bad, but tune in if you are around. Link to info --> www.hrc.org/blog/entry/president-obamas-remarks-at-hrc-national-dinner-to-be-webcast-live

What an awesome performance! I've been wanting to hear it live ever since I heard the studio track It's great that MetroWeekly was there seemingly preofessionally recording the entire event. As the audio in that recording is coming from the venue's audio mixer. Not sure which I prefer actually, because you don't really get the feel or being there this way, how ever if the microphone that camera people were using was of low quality, or if people around it were loud it could of came out bad. "Because people are people, so why should you and I, live alone so awfully." Nice excerpt from Depeche Mode's "People Are People" at the end too I never would of thought to add that the end of Purple Sky, because of the way the original song is sung. But it really does fit in the way Greyson sang it.
