Recently, a fan posted a concert review where she described Greyson singing to her at a concert. This brought to mind a topic I had been thinking about some time ago.
THE BACKGROUND STORY: When I saw that Justin Bieber had raised $30,000 for charity by selling his hair on Ebay, I was inspired with a new idea. So, a while back, I sent Greyson a letter offering to donate a large sum to Covenant House (charity for homeless youth), or to the charity of Greyson's choice if he would put his magic touch to two of the songs listed below and post them to his You Tube page.
I haven't heard anything back but I can completely understand after following his schedule over the last 6 months. Plus, there are probably contract issues, publishing issues, and who knows what else. (Or, maybe I am just old and out of touch and he didn't like any of the songs). ;D
But I'm curious what you, the fans would think of these songs , so I am attempting to post them here and I am asking the fans to vote for the ones that they would like Greyson to work his magic arranging skills on. I hope you will participate because I value your opinions. Also remember that this would be for Charity, so please vote!
Each song was chosen for the special meaning that the lyrics would have for any of Greyson's fans. I'm an old sixties rocker so I may be a little dated and out of touch, but I would still like to know your opinions. So I hope you will vote and also add any comments or opinions about the songs as to music and lyrical content.
The first song is a ballad called "Little Girl In The 4th Row". It is about a lonely singer who spots the girl of his dreams sitting in the fourth row. But he is sad because he knows that when the show is over, he will be "flyin' right out of (her) world. So he dreams of how it could be.
Ignore the video. Just listen to the audio and the lyrics. Then imagine Greyson singing this song to YOU at a concert (to the adoring screams of the other girls in the crowd), and imagine his haunting piano in the background. Then tell us what you think.
Tell us what you think about the song, then Remember to vote.
Song Two is by Christian Contemporary Artist Michael W. Smith. Most of his songs are piano or keyboard based & would be perfect for Greyson to cover. This song is called "Place In This World", and is all about finding out who you are and where you fit in. (Michael also performed this song live onstage with the Jonas Brothers. You can find the clip on You tube). Again, please form your opinion by listening to the Lyrics and the Music. And Imagine Greyson singing this at his piano!
Song #3, is called "Back On The Road Again". This is a song about touring. And we all know that Greyson LOVES to tour. The song is about Love and laughter, pain and tears. And all those people (YOU,the fans). Listen to the lyrics and imagine Greyson singing this one TO YOU!
Song #4 is "Picture Perfect", by Michael W. Smith. This would be another great song for Greyson to sing to his fans. Listen to and read the lyrics and remember that Greyson has said that he doesn't feel that girls need to wear a lot of make up.(P,S. for any of you girls that are feeling down. This song is for you. Hang in there. Don't let Mean Girls & bullies get you down. Things WILL get better.) The message in this song is SO STRONG and so POSITIVE that, if it were possible to pay someone to record a song, I would pay Greyson to record this one. And I would love to see him on stage interacting with his band. What do you guys and girls think?
Song 5 is "Crazy Horses", by The Osmond Brothers. It is a great anti-pollution song and was a worldwide number one in its day.
While the lyrics are a reference to the "Horsepower" of the internal combustion engine, this great anti-pollution song was banned in some countries because they thought it was about the drug Heroin, referred to on the street as "Horse". This was silly if you listen to the lyrics. Especially since the song was recorded by one of the most family-friendly groups in history. Anyway, another great song IMHO for Greyson to sing. Especially with the trademark keyboard "Whinnying, screaming horse" that Greyson could play on his electronic keyboard. (Look close and you'll see Donny playing it in the vid). Tell me your opinion.
I know, the outfits were a little wild. But that was the '70's & it was cool back then. Anyway, its better than a meat dress.
Okay, so now please go back to the top and vote for any of the songs that you would like to hear Greyson cover, either on his You Tube page, or as a recording or onstage. You can vote for as many songs as you like.
Remember to base your vote on the lyrical content and the music AS YOU IMAGINE GREYSON WOULD PLAY IT.
Thanks for listening and voting. If this thread goes well, maybe other fans will post songs that they would like Greyson to cover as well
If you do post something of your own, please tell us your thoughts on WHY the song is significant and WHY it would be good for Greyson to sing or play on the piano or keyboard.
