So, I followed the link in Greyson's tweet about www.everloop.com/"I’m so excited to be a part of Everloop! Members can join my loop where I’ll have some special contests. Check it out! www.everloop.com/" As most of you are aware, I like to help with contests here on the forum as well as pass along links to other Greyson related contests. So (again), I thought I'd go sign up for Greyson's thing on everloop. Sadly, I quickly realized that this was clearly a site for kids. In fact, on the very first page, a rather unkindly little old lady glared at me over her spectacles and said "NO GROWNUPS4GREYSON ALLOWED."... or something like that. So what is a grown man supposed to do? Rely on the EnCHANCErs of course. Some of our younger forum members need to sign up to keep us aware of any special contests that may come up.

Everloop is a social networking site geared specifically toward tweens. Although I am not sure what they expect to do to users that who turn over their age limit while still being an active user. Something interesting I found on their site is that even I am too old to use the site, - "Everloop strives to provide a fun, safe and age-appropriate social media experience for kids under 13. Education is key to keeping families safer online and here are useful safety practices that can be used at home."You can read more about this here - www.everloop.com/pub/index.php/parents/Which is very odd considering most social networking and online communities require a minimum of 13 years old. In fact it is a US law I believe for forums. Which raises an interesting point as retiredone poked at, Greyson being 14.

Somebody was asking me yesterday to help her with her entry on that site. Of course, I couldn't be much help since I didn't register myself.
However, I asked around on Twitter and found out from somebody that there is an age restriction and that they have some strange requirement of having to get a parents SSN or have them pay $1 of something like that. Something about making sure that the parents are monitoring their kids on the site. Anyway, that prevented a lot of people from participating apparently.
The video that Greyson advertises this with is pretty cool though. Behind the scenes with him in the studio.

Everloop is clearly a kids page. I was just poking a little fun. And since we couldn't possibly have anyone under 13 on the board , cough cough, I guess we'll never know if they offer any special contests for our young enCHANCErs and GREYSONators.

I was looking around, and being most of us are like 14 and over, we can't enter. It sucked to find out that we couldn't enter. But, one of my friends, she's 2 years younger than me, she could enter, and it was weird. They asked for a SSN or a credit card number, so that they could "confirm your identity" or whatever. So, after she found that out, she didn't enter. I guess that there won't be many entries, because of the parents' SSN or credit card number. Which, is a stupid thing to ask for on a KIDS website.

It almost sounds like a scam. I wouldn't give my credit card number, or especially my social security number to any internet site. Something does not smell right here. KIDS BEWARE!!!!

I kinda thought the same thing, and even if I was the correct age, I wouldn't have entered anyway. My mom and I are VERY caucious about that kind of stuff. So, my mom wouldn't have let me enter anyway. That seems like a bad kind of site. BEWARE. PLEASE. BEWARE.

I finally got around to checking it out (had to do a little fibbing to register on the site). I doubt Greyson's team would endorse a site that is obviously a scam, but at the same time it does require a parent to confirm their identity by giving their name, birthdate, address and either the last 4 digits of a SSN or a payment of $1 by credit card.
I'm glad that they want to be careful in running their website for kids, but that is a lot of personal info to have to give out.
Anyway, since nobody has gotten around to posting it, here is the behind the scenes video that Greyson shot to advertise the contest.

Everloop is COPPA compliant (government regulations protecting children's privacy online), so they have to get verified parent's permission for a child under 13 to be on the internet. The only way to verify is either through the last four of the social or through an active credit card. Everloop is not a scam - there is no way Greyson's management would be a part of that. The site is safe and pretty cool (if you are under 13)

The site is safe and pretty cool (if you are under 13) I believe that you are correct. When I said it sounded like a scam, my opinion was based on the information provided by the other posters who were saying that the site was requiring a credit card or social security number. It was not described as a request for the last 4 digits or a simple $1.00 credit card payment. Based on the additional information, that changes the facts and I agree that it appears to be legitimate. I agree that Greyson and his management would not KNOWINGLY participate in a scam. The key change in the facts presented changes the equation. So, back to the original point of the post- I hope some of our younger members will join and post any updates about contests.

Like fancygirl said, the reason they ask for the last four digits of the SSID or a credit card is because they have to verify that an adult is vouching for their child on the site. Sort of like when a checking account is made under a minor's name, it must be co-signed by an adult.
Usually sites that have a $1 verification fee for age, legality, or other reason, they will refund the $1 as soon as they receive it. They must process the charge in order to know that they card is legitimate though.
Or the last four digits, which I believe only contains personal information such as name, age etc. will work too.
It's definitely an interesting site and it is nice to see them trying to abide by the law as much as possible. Because technically due to regulations in the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (which I just realized is what COPPA stands for...) it is illegal in most cases for someone under the age of 13 to register on any social media site.
