I like her music, but the theatrics are a little too over the top for me. My favorite part was when she sat at the piano and just played and sang. I especially like the new song "You and I." Especially this performance of it (starts at 2:30 if you haven't seen it): She if very talented though and I think a lot of people write her off w/o actually knowing anything about her. She also has very good taste in music and is a big Springsteen fan. Clarence Clemons who is the saxophonist in the E Street Band which is Bruce's back-up band plays on a couple of tracks on the upcoming album. Which of her new singles do you like best so far? I am just now starting to get into Adele. She doesn't "rock" enough for me to listen to extensively, but her voice is just magnificent and I really do like a lot of her songs.

My first musical "love" was Michael Jackson when I was really little. One of my earliest memories was waiting in front of the TV for the premiere of the "Black or White" video which after looking it up on Wikipedia means it was slightly before my 6th birthday (and probably before most people on here were born). Then I saw the Beach Boys at my first concert and loved them for a brief period. Then I saw Elton John for the first (of 9 so far) time and I was obsessed w/ him for quite a while. He is still my solid #2 favorite.
My favorite of all time and probably not likely to ever change is Bruce Springsteen. Idk where my obsession w/ him comes from b/c nobody I know is a fan, but around 13/14 I got his "Greatest Hits" and then I saw him live and that was that. He is the total package IMO - good musician, great lyricist, and arguably the greatest live performer to ever step foot on a stage. Lots of people can't stand his voice, and I get that b/c I felt the same way at the start but I love it now. He has a massive, obsessive, and completely devoted fanbase which I don't think a lot of people realize. I also like that fact that he is genuinely a good guy and very down to earth.
My favorite current band is Arcade Fire. People have been saying great things about them for years, but I never really got the hype. Then suddenly about a year ago I heard "No Cars Go" for the first time and I started listening to more of their stuff. This year when they won Album of the Year at the Grammys I was over the moon b/c I don't think anybody thought they'd win. I also loved the collective reaction of "Who is Arcade Fire?" even though they are probably the most important band to come about in the past 10 years.
If anybody is interested, here is "Wake Up" (their most famous song) from Coachella last week. Look out for the light up ball thingys those are pretty cool. Also, "No Cars Go" which is probably my favorite song of theirs. Mostly b/c the ending is pretty epic.
Sorry for the long post.

Who is your favorite artist or band of all time? My first "live" concert was "The Beatles" in 1965. Kinda hard to top that. Beatles at Shea Stadium 1965, intro by Ed Sullivan. (Compare screaming girls to a Greyson Chance Concert. Watch the Cop put his hands over his ears as they come out ). But then I saw "America's answer to the British Invasion" Paul Revere & The Raiders & I was hooked for life. With their Revolutionary War uniforms and "Raider Dance steps" they were the coolest thing going on in '65-67 until music changed to more "serious" rock. Judge GTO Commercial/ "Just Like Me" with famous double tracked lead guitar solo by Drake Levin. If you look closely you'll see Drake Levin's double necked guitar & Mark Lindsay's ponytail, long before other "cool" rockers started to wear them. History writes them off because "rock critics" didn't get their performance art, but they were first before Kiss, Alice Cooper, Prince, MJ & Lady GaGa. A few little known facts: Paul Schaffer (David Letterman) calls them "the greatest show band in the history of Rock and Roll". Jimmy Hendrix copied their guitar moves & setting fire to instruments. The Who literally stole & copied one of their songs. Prince and other groups copied their clothes. In 1969, The Raiders opened for The Beach Boys in Europe. But in 1967, The Rolling Stones Opened for Paul Revere & The Raiders! Dick Clark called them the musical Marx Brothers & featured them on two of his TV series, "Where The Action Is" and "Happening". Lead singer Mark Lindsay was the first rocker with a Pony Tail. He made it cool. They are the most televised rock act of all time with over 700 performances. They got written off by later, self appointed "rock critics" as bubblegum but if you took the time to check them out they were really closet rockers. Videos: first anti-drug song "Kicks" from The Milton Berle Show". "Powder Blue Mercedes Queen" from "Rollin on The River" Paul Schaffer's tribute to PR&R on the death of Drake Levin. (the lead guitarist that Jimi Hendrix copied, or should I say, was inspired by. AND NOW, GREYSON CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (compare screams to a Beatle Concert). Thanks to Meredith for teaching me how to imbed videos. (Hope I didn't overdo it).

I guess one of you guys (or girls) will have to teach me how to imbed videos. I am planning on going through some of the more advanced features and writing them up, but I don't have the time to do them all at once. Since you asked though, here is the first one HOW TO POST A YOUTUBE VIDEO. Please let me know if what I wrote isn't clear b/c it is a little hard to put into words. That was an interesting post. I didn't know a lot of that stuff about them. I will respond more fully tomorrow though b/c it is late and I have a wedding to get up for.

EVA CASSIDY sang only other peoples compositions, sometimes changing them, always improving them. In the same way that Greyson worked HIS magic on Gaga's Paparazzi. Eva was a zillion times more accomplished a singer/player than Greyson is now. However Greyson is way ahead of his contemporaries after merely 1year in the business. He has 20 years to improve to Eva's standard. On past performance, he'll be there in 5.

I came across someone today named Christina Grimmie (zeldaxlove64 on YouTube), she seems pretty popular but never heard of her until now. She only has covers but does some opening acts. She's pretty good

No problem on the embedding thing. I like that feature!
Did she die young or tragically or something? I actually kind of know who she is only b/c I was in a store rather recently and they were playing one of her CDs. The store owner started talking about her and how much she loved her and actually gave me a CD when I told her that The Wizard of Oz was my favorite movie as a kid. I think it was Eva Cassidy.

The store owner started talking about her and how much she loved her and actually gave me a CD when I told her that The Wizard of Oz was my favorite movie as a kid. I think it was Eva Cassidy. It undoubtedly was Eva. The giveaway? The store owner said she LOVED her. She arouses the deepest passionate responses like no other artist. It's almost a religious experience. That's my best shot at describing it even though I'm an atheist. Strangely her music is more appreciated abroad than in her native US. She didn't do promos. She died in 1996 aged 33. Was never signed to a record label cos she refused to sing stuff she didn't like. A true individualist, and I think Greyson has a similar gift. Malignant melanoma (a type of skin cancer) was her cause of death. Probably from working outside as a gardener, a job she loved. The thought of Greyson in his beach side apartment getting sunburnt and going down the same path as Eva prompted me to ask you to give him a slap. Aussies like Cody are sunburn savvy. It has been a big issue there for over 5 years because of a dramatic increase in mortality. The damage is done when, especially children's, skin is burnt. Prognosis of MM is dreadful unless caught early. It killed Eva in her prime.
