'So you're saying that the note leaded to the bench and that u have the key to it and you opened it before they took your piano away? ' Greyson said in one breath we sat down on the floor. He looked at me, as if he was observing the colour of my eyes.
I drummed my fingers on the floor as i looked at his face, focusing on the eyes. I had not heard what he had said before, i was busy observing his eyes. He seemed to have forgotten as well, so i thought until he used his finger to poke me in the shoulder gently.
'Dee?' He said, smiling. 'Huh?' I said idioticly before remembering what he had asked me. 'Um, yeah, pretty much and that pile of books there' I said pointing at the books and briefly glancing at the pile 'are what i found in the bench after i uncovered the secret space.'
'I can't believe you did this all without me!' He mock scolded me. He stood up and walked over to my bed as i watched him, my head tilted slightly to the side. How come i never noticed how attractive Greyson was? With his dark silky brown hair that flops over his eyes a little, his sparkling brown eyes and his smile anybody would fall for him. Am i falling for him? No, i can't, it won't be right, besides i might be moving soon if i don't come up with a way to get money.Tell Greyson, he'll be able to help you
A strand of my hair flew into my eyes and i blew it out of the way but it just flopped back in front of my eyes. I used my hand to brush it away as i stood up as well and walked over to tell him.
I sat down beside him, blushing a little at how close he was and picked up one of the books. I pushed my thoughts of him away as I studied the cover. I can't tell him now,i would not want to interupt him. It was plain red with dog ears and yellow pages, but there was no writing on the cover. I leafed through it and noticed one thing. On the very top of the page was always a letter written in black ink.
I flipped through it brieftly to see if every page was filled. It was, and the music was beautiful, i could tell from the note patterns. I hummed it a little for a wile until i realized that Greyson was humming along. i stopped and listened to his humming, it was even little hmms, rising and falling as the notes carried on. At that momment, i forgot all my troubles, or how i worried about being broke.
I was lost in thought as I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I took it out and felt something scratchy in my pocket. It was a piece of paper. I stared at it, confused before realizing that the piece of paper was the one she found in the first manuscript book. I unfolded it and handed it to Greyson, who was surprisingly still humming.
He took it with no question, smoothing it out on the bed. I saw his eyes scan through the paper before he handed it back to me. Our fingers touched and it gave me a warm feeling. Our fingers had touched many times before but it was nothing like this. I literally felt sparks. I had no idea i was so cliche. I made a face at myself.
I felt him prodding me with the book as i turned to face him. 'What?' I asked, my fingers still brushing the cover of my dad's manuscript book. 'I understand what it means.' He said, immediately flipping open the manuscript book and pointing to the letter at the top of the brownish page.
'I don't get it.' I said, trying to see what was so significant about the letter. 'Each letter on each page spells your name out. Your suppose to assemble it and together it would be a song, a very beautiful one by the looks of it.' He explained, his finger tapping on the same letter.
I smiled it made sense, it did. 'Do you want to go down and try these out? The words flew out of my mouth before i could stop them.
When i realized what i had said, sadness flooded me. I will never see that piano again. Greyson must have caught what i had said because a minute later he invited me to his house to use his piano.
I nodded and went with him.
